► WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO MOVE?
The busiest moving times tend to be the weekends and the end of each calendar month, especially during Spring and Summer months. If possible, call a month in advance of your desired moving date, and try to schedule your move during non-peak periods.
► ARE THE GOODS PROTECTED AGAINST LOSS OF DAMAGE WHILE THEY ARE IN TRANSIT?
Yes, but the level of protection depends upon how much insurance you have. Milwaukee Movers provides basic coverage for $.60 per pound per article if lost or damaged. You may already be covered for loss during transit. Contact your homeowners/renters insurance agent to confirm. Alternatively, additional insurance can be purchased from MovingInsurance.com. Rates start at $12 per $1,000 in coverage.
► WHEN DOES THE HOURLY CHARGE BEGIN?
Milwaukee Movers only starts the time clock after the crew arrives at your residence and is ready to begin loading. Many moving companies start the billable time period when their movers leave their office in the truck. Milwaukee Movers believes that you should only pay for moving services, and not the drive time before you begin your relocation.
► WHAT IS A BILL OF LADING?
The Bill of Lading (“BOL”) is the receipt for your goods and the contract with your mover for the transporation of items. The BOL should contain the name, address, phone number, and the rate and charge for each service rendered by the hired mover. Every mover should prepare a BOL for every shipment transported. It is your responsibilty to read and understand the information on the BOL before you sign it. The BOL specifices the terms and conditions for payment, as well as the amount the mover will be liable for in the event of loss or damage.
► CAN I PACK ANYTHING IN DRAWERS OF MY DRESSER OR DESK?
All items should be packed in boxes to prevent loss or damage. It is strongly recommended that you leave all drawers empty.
► WILL THE DRIVER LOAD ALL THE BOXES THAT I PACKED?
Yes, as long as the Milwaukee Movers crew determine them safe for transport and they do not contain prohibited items. Packing boxes yourself can save a lot of money. Please be aware that Milwaukee Movers will move Owner packed boxes at Owner’s risk. If we do not know how the boxes have been packed, we can not take liability for Owner packed items being broken or damaged during transit.
► WHAT CAN’T BE MOVED?
Milwaukee Movers will not transport Prohibited items or bulky and heavy items weighing more than 400 pounds. Prohibited items include: aerosols, cleaning products, flammable items (e.g. matches and lighters), ammunition, hazardous materials, cash, jewelry, notes stocks and stamps, aquariums, and pets among others. Pianos, pool tables, and other heavy or bulky items typically require special equipment to properly move them. Heavy and bulky items are generally moved by specialist relocation companies.
